Water Side Tea Side
Rube Exhibition 12/5/16
About the Exhibition and my Rube...
Our exhibition was at the school. To prepare for this exhibition we created a analysis explaining our rube and we also had our rube. I liked the exhibition because it was fun to have all of the people in one room. It was really crowded which was also kinda fun because lots of people got to see your rube. One thing that I didn't like was that it was really loud. Some of the rubes made tons of noise so it was hard to concentrate in such a small space.
Our Rube was a two sided Rube, including a water side and a tea side. We made it a two sided Rube because we wanted to make it a little more interesting that a normal sized Rube. We did the water side first so when it came to testing it at the end it ended up breaking because we haven't tested it in a long time. The side that worked the best was the tea side. It was also the side that we were the most proud of because we worked a long time on it. Overall I was really happy with how our Rube turned out!
Questions and Answers
1. What hands on skills did you learn through working in your group? (construction, problem solving, collaboration, design, time management, etc...)
Something that I learned from working in a group is that we need to collaborate more. We didn't really talk critically about our rube so nothing really ever got done. We ended up working a lot on our rube outside of school when we could have communicated better about it in school.
2. What steps were most challenging to make work? (How did you troubleshoot or redesign)
The step that was most confusing would probably be the funnel. It was the hardest because it was really confusing to make because it had a lot of different components in that part. It had to push something down in an exact place while also falling down the funnel at the right place and time. We fixed it with a lot of critique from our peers. We also tried a ton of things just to make sure other things wouldn't work better.
3. Explain the flow of energy throughout the whole rube from start to finish, (did it work all with just the input or did you add more along the way? In what ways is your rube efficient or NOT in transferring energy from one step to another)
The flow of our rube was okay. One side of our rube is an original design that we did not change at all, but the other side of the rube was made up. We designed the tea side of our rube out of random things that we found that could have worked. Our rube also didn't work fully without helping it a little. It's needed a little tap or nudge to get it working again.
