Domestication Project
In the Domestication Project we learned about different characteristics of animals. To do this, we first had to learn about Meiosis and Mitosis to lean about how animals could potentially get these characteristics. After we started learning about these things we started to lean the different chronological differences that could possibly occur in your genes. We usually switch off between doing re-search about our animals characteristics and learning about basic things you need to learn in biology. After we learned most of the basics we started doing our "experiments" on our animals.
In my project I tested to see if dogs personalities change depending on their interactions with humans. In my research I didn't find much on how time changes their personalities I just found there personalities over an entire basis. With my experiment I found that time does change how a dog is behaving. Dogs interact more positively with you when you spend time with them. I compared these results to some statistics that shocked me. I found that 18% of dogs get put down because their owners don't want them anymore or they don't know what to do with them. Maybe if the owners spent more time with their dogs than they would be more involved in what their dogs were doing because their dogs were paying attention to them and maybe they wouldn't have to putting them down. How I collected this data was that each day for five days I spent an hour with my dogs. I spend time with each of them alone. In that hour I took three variables (Licking, Pawing, and Play Bowing) and tested them to see howe many times they would do the variable. The first four days in the week were very similar but on day five the results went up. In the end I know from my dogs that the longer you spend with them, the more friendly and positively they will interact with you. Some things that I would do for next time is do my "experiment" for longer because I am curious if the connection will grow stronger or if it will die off?
